Matondo makes it six from six in Kortrijk!

The Groen-Zwart started what looks to be a vital month of December at the Guldenspoor Stadium in Kortrijk. Matondo opened the scoring for Cercle on the half hour with a great bit of play before, in the second half, scoring his second on the evening and giving his team a deserved victory.

Dominik Thalhammer brought a few surprising names into the starting eleven for his debut match as the same eleven who won against Mechelen in the league a week earlier were again inlcluded from the off against KVK.

On what was a heavy pitch it took some time to find a good combination for both teams. Kortrijk would control possession in the opening part of the match. But the first chance would come just before the ten minute mark for Cercle, as Hotic saw his shot go wide of Ilic's goal.

The Groen-Zwart were growing into the game more and more, putting the hosts under pressure with plenty of direct play. Somers was able to get on the end of a long ball from Daland just before half an hour, finding Matondo, who set off on a mazy run. The Welshman dribbled through the Kortrijk defense and then calmly stroked the ball into the top corner. It was a fine finish from Matondo who immediately doubled his goal tally a week after his first goal for the club. On the stroke of half-time he was again in one goal, but Ilic punched clear, his effort followed immediately by a chance for Deman, but again Ilic was equal to it, as Rougeaux helped his goalkeeper to clear the ball.

Lopes Da Silva was booked in the first half and ref Put gave him a final verbal warning. He would then stay in the dressing room at halftime as a precaution, with Charles Vanhoutte taking his place.

The Groen-Zwart, however, had the bit between their teeth. Matondo had another chance, but saw his effort go just past the far post. On as a substitute Millàn would quickly assert himself in the 56th minute by getting on the end of Hotic's pass. Ilic was again there to punch clear, however. On the corner kick that followed, the KVK goalkeeper was beaten, but Van der Bruggen saw his effort carom off the crossbar.

Cercle continued to press for a second, unabated. Despite the being a goal down, Kortrijk barely got out of their own half, and this continued pressure would soon pay off. Fifteen minutes before time, Somers, who had moved to the right flank, was able to play a ball in over the top of the defence, finding Hotic in the process, who got an effort on target. The ball seemed to go just wide after Ilic got a touch, but at the back post Matondo was there to punch home for his second goal of the evening.
